Beware! ‘Tis The Season For Phone Scammers

A SUMMER OF SCAMMERS – Lower Pottsgrove police on Friday (Aug. 3, 2018) joined the chorus of other local law enforcement agencies that have recently urged their residents to ignore, refuse to give personal information of any kind to, and hang up on callers who claim they must resolve outstanding criminal charges with a cash payment, or cover outstanding debts to the Internal Revenue Service. “They will then demand money be wired to them, or gift cards be mailed to relieve the parties of legal actions. These are not legitimate calls. Do not fall for the scam,” the department warned on its CrimeWatch website. It noted many of the callers are making contact “from out of state numbers.”
