Veterans Seek Help With Pottstown Grave Flags

POTTSTOWN PA – Can you spare some time next Saturday (May 19, 2018) to honor men and women who spared a portion of their lives to serve the nation?

As they do periodically for national holidays, members of Brigadier Gen. Elmer S. Friedberg American Legion Post 244, based in Sanatoga, will install American flags Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. on the graves of U.S. Armed Forces veterans in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery, 701 Farmington Ave., Pottstown.

There are slightly more than 2,000 veterans graves at Highland. The American Legion could use extra help in ensuring each one is decorated, and it’s asking the public for assistance. Many hands make light work, after all, and chief among the rewards is to see all those flags fluttering in the breeze. If you’re willing, just show up at the appointed day, time and place.

And if you have questions, contact American Legion Adjutant Billy Worrell of Pottstown by e-mail, here.
