Two Drivers Escape Injury In Reported Crash

NORTH COVENTRY PA – Two drivers, one of them from Pottstown, escaped injury in a Monday (April 9, 2018) two-vehicle crash that occurred at about 7:38 a.m. on South Hanover Street in North Coventry, the township police department reported on its website.

Police said their investigation indicated William E. Hinshillwood of Schwenksville was driving in the area of 729 S. Hanover St., and was slowing due to traffic stopped ahead of him, when the vehicle he occupied was hit from behind. Elia Eltringham of Pottstown operated the second vehicle, which police said was moving “at a distance closer than was reasonable and prudent for the speed and conditions that existed.”

Eltringham was cited for following too closely. No injuries were reported, police added.

Hinshillwood’s vehicle “sustained functional rear end damage” but was driven from the scene, according to the report. Eltringham’s vehicle “sustained disabling front end damage and was towed.”
