POTTSTOWN PA – The educational fund of J.P. Mascaro And Sons, the Audubon PA-based multi-state trash hauler that provides services to several western Montgomery County municipalities, has donated $5,000 to the Foundation for Pottstown Education under Pennsylvania’s Education Improvement Tax Credit program, the foundation announced Monday (Feb. 12, 2018).
The financial gift, for which the company receives state tax relief, will be used by the foundation to support initiatives in Pottstown schools, it said. They include cooperation with Montgomery County Community College in an early college program that provides scholarships for Pottstown High School students to take college courses during their junior and senior years.
The foundation’s early college program began in 2014. More than 75 students have enrolled since then, it noted.
Mascaro identified the foundation “as a worthwhile candidate” for funding, and was “excited about the opportunity” to offer support, according to Lindsey Mascaro Ptaszenski, the fund’s director of education and community relations. The company takes pride in “being actively involved in local communities and aggressively (taking) part in educational initiatives,” she added.
The foundation is a state-approved organization in the tax credit program.
