Pottstown Man Faces 19 Counts In Investigation

POTTSTOWN PA – A 25-year-old Pottstown man facing 19 separate counts of drug-related and other charges is scheduled for a Feb. 5 (2018; Monday) preliminary hearing in a borough courtroom, following his arrest last week, court records show.

Sharif Ali Grant was taken into custody Jan. 18 (Thursday), around 6 a.m., after members of the Pottstown Police Department and Montgomery County SWAT-West officers served a search warrant for the second-floor apartment residence at 410 Jefferson Ave. The arrest followed an investigation of alleged illegal drug trafficking conducted earlier in the month by the department’s Community Response Unit.

During a search of the residence police located what they said in a media release were amounts of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, synthetic cannabinoids, marijuana, and packaging materials. The total street value of the drugs seized was more than $4,000. Also discovered were a handgun, ammunition, and more than $1,700 in cash.

Grant has been charged with eight counts of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of possession of controlled substances, four counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession of drugs with intent to manufacture or deliver, and single counts of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, possession of a prohibited firearm, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

He was unable to post $150,000 bail set by Magisterial District Justice Scott Palladino, and was taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville PA to await his hearing.
