Pottstown Calls Public Uniform Policy Meeting

POTTSTOWN PA – A meeting to discuss the dress code and uniform policy for the 2018-2019 academic year in Pottstown public schools will be held July 24 (Monday; 2017) beginning at 6 p.m. in Pottstown High School auditorium, Pottstown School District Superintendent Stephen J. Rodriguez said.

Those attending the session, called on behalf of the district Board of School Directors, “will be given an opportunity to make comments or suggestions based on your experience, situation, and grade level,” Rodriguez said in a Monday (July 10) statement. He encouraged parents and others to “come join us for all or part of the meeting as you are able to attend.”

The school board last month indicated it may consider rescinding its current uniform policy in favor of a “comprehensive dress policy,” according to a story in The Mercury by reporter Evan Brandt. The uniform policy was earlier removed at the high school, but remains at Pottstown’s middle and four elementary schools.

The policy may be discussed further by the board during a July 27 (Thursday) workshop meeting, Brandt wrote.
