Proof Boyertown Has That (Almost) Real Holiday Spirit

NOT QUITE HOW IT LOOKS IN REAL LIFE – The newly restored crane at the former East Penn Railroad freight yard in Boyertown PA doesn’t have holiday ornaments hanging from its appendages. Those are just fanciful, computer-added enhancements to a photo that is part of this week’s “Boyertown Farmers Market Newsletter,” published Thursday (Dec. 19, 2013). The restoration recently was completed by the Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust, and newsletter authors – obviously in the holiday spirit – called it “one of the nicest Christmas gifts a town can receive.” The project had been approved earlier in the spring by Boyertown Borough Council, and was supported by the Berks-Mont Business Association. Boyertown’s winter farm market operates twice monthly – on first and third Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon – from November to May inside The Other Farm Brewing Company, 128 E. Philadelphia Ave.
