The “Building a Better Boyertown (BBB)” organization benefits from the proceeds of the Cherry Blossom Jubilee Dinner Dance, scheduled for March 3 from 6-10 p.m. at Bella Vista Golf Club in Gilbertsville. Music is by the DBB Quartet. Tickets can be purchased at BBB’s offices and Boyertown’s Twin Turrets Inn.

The Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation has awarded a $30,000 grant to two local organizations to build a community garden on Chestnut Street in the borough.

Experts for the Pottstown-based TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce looked at statistics Thursday and said things seemed to be picking up. On Friday, job numbers rose, unemployment fell. Not everything’s rosy: a Pennsylvania casino is burdened by debt, and defense cuts may hurt the state too.

A Christmas tree toss returned as part of the New Year’s Day festivities Sunday at Riverfront Park in Pottstown. Don’t be fooled; it’s not easy. And don’t think it foolish; there once was a time when tree-tossing was all about profit and salesmanship.
