POTTSTOWN PA – Traffic signal installations at the intersection of Route 100 and Shoemaker Road (at the red dot, at top) in Pottstown borough will create a weekday lane closure there between Monday (Feb. 17, 2020) and Feb. 28 (Friday), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. Slowdowns will occur, PennDOT predicted. The work schedule depends on weather conditions.
The work is part of a federally funded project to improve safety and traffic flow along key corridors in Pottstown, and Lower Pottsgrove and North Coventry townships. It includes upgrading 52 signalized intersections on 12 state highways with new equipment, facilities, and operations.
The project also includes widening sidewalk and installing new lighting on Pottstown’s Hanover Street bridge to improve pedestrian safety. Road-Con Inc. of West Chester is the general contractor on the $13.7 million project, expected to finish this spring.
