FAMILY FUN AT HOPEWELL FURNACE – A day of free programs and activities devoted to animals that were a part of the historic Hopewell Furnace community off Route 345 in Birdsboro PA is scheduled for Oct. 19 (2019; Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families can “explore, learn, and protect” the park, Site Manager David Blackburn said, by participating in demonstrations that include preparing wool for household use, story time, and various crafts. Start at its visitor center to pick up a schedule of events for the day, ask about becoming a Junior Ranger, and look around the 19th century iron-making village. Now a national park, Hopewell Furnace was active from 1771 to 1883. Admission is free. For more information call 610-582-8773.
