Pottstown Junior Exploring STEM Career Paths

LEARNING LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION – Pottstown High School junior Julianna Figueroa (at top left) joined 60 other young women to spend part of their summer exploring science and developing leadership skills at the Exelon STEM Innovation and Leadership Academy, the Pottstown School District reports. The week-long, overnight program at Drexel University features science, technology, engineering and math-related field trips (like that to the Conowingo hydroelectric generating station, top right), activities, and opportunities to learn about STEM work and career paths. Featured keynote speakers included female leaders from PECO, Exelon, and other companies and organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region. The sessions also gave participants a chance to meet their peers who have similar interests.
