Years Later, Reading Woman Faces Theft Charges

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – A 32-year-old Reading PA woman – who has been wanted for almost seven years by the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department on a warrant for theft by deception and other charges – was held last week by police in Laureldale, Berks County, after having been stopped for an unspecified reason, and was arrested Friday (July 26, 2019) by Lower Pottsgrove officers.

Sarah Grabel, of 1147 N. 9th St., Reading, also faces single counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, and receiving stolen property. She was transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville PA before her preliminary arraignment, according to the department’s CrimeWatch website.

Grabel is scheduled for an Aug. 15 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Justice Edward C. Kropp Sr. She was later released on a $2,000 unsecured bond, court records show.

Lower Pottsgrove police said the case in which Grabel is allegedly involved dates back to July 2012. Police claim Grabel “made two web deposits on July 5th, one for $300 and the other for $1,000. However subject failed to provide the physical checks in the required time.” The depository institution was not identified in its website description.

Grabel “also made several withdrawals from the account prior to the bank stopping the deposits. Subject failed to correct the account,” it alleged. The warrant for her arrest was issued Oct. 6, 2012, the court indicated.
