Three Police Units Investigate Child Porn Case

SANATOGA PA – A joint investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Lower Pottsgrove, Limerick, and Pottstown police departments into a child pornography case that not only involves the three municipalities but also may expand beyond state lines, Lower Pottsgrove Police Chief Michael Foltz advised the township Board of Commissioners during its meeting last week (May 6, 2019).

With that investigation in progress, details are being closely held. Foltz reported, however, that the victim is a Lower Pottsgrove resident, and that the “criminal acts involved took place at various locations.”

Township Det. Daniel Kienle is working the case for Lower Pottsgrove, the chief added. Homeland Security representatives also are involved, Foltz said.

Three other noteworthy cases are among dozens currently be followed by Lower Pottsgrove detectives, according to the chief:

  • A home health aide is suspected of committing theft from a township resident, he reported. The suspect allegedly “removed items from the victim’s home over a period of time while caring for the victim,” he added. Foltz said that investigation is continuing.
  • A drug overdose that resulted in a death is potentially linked to an already identified individual suspected of supplying the drugs, police allege. “An arrest may be forthcoming,” Foltz said.
  • A suspect allegedly involved in the theft of cash proceeds from an area business was recently identified. The theft was deemed to have occurred internally, as the suspect was an employee of the business. “The company elected to handle the matter internally,” and “no charges (were) filed,” Foltz said.
