POTTSTOWN PA – Preliminary hearings are anticipated next month for two Pottstown men who were arrested Saturday night (May 11, 2019) and face aggravated assault and related charges in the alleged stabbing of a third male, also a borough resident, according to the Pottstown Police Department. The incident occurred at about 9:25 p.m. in the area of Manatawny and Beech streets, police added.
Arrested were Dante Price, age 41, and Stephen Cillio, age 38, both of the borough. They were charged, police said, with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and several other offenses.
Officers were on patrol in the area when they witnessed “two subjects chasing a third,” according to the department report. They stopped the third subject, identified as Andrew Cleveland, age 42, and determined he was a victim with “a laceration on the left side of his chest, as well as other lacerations” from an assault.
Cleveland was initially treated by officers at the scene, and then by responding emergency medical services personnel from Goodwill Ambulance. He was transported by ambulance to Reading Hospital.
The officers began their investigation by determining “the assault was a retaliation from a prior incident,” and they also found those chasing Cleveland were located near where they were first spotted by police. “As a result of the investigation the two subjects were identified and taken into custody,” the department added.
Preliminary arraignments were conducted Sunday by Magisterial District Justice Scott Palladino.
