Grant Pays To Upgrade Routes 73, 663 At Corner

GRANT PRESENTED – State Sen. Bob Mensch and Rep. Marcy Toepel (at left) were joined Friday (March 1, 2019) by New Hanover supervisors Chuck Garner, Marie Livelsberger, and Kurt Zebrowski as the township received a more than $125,000 Pennsylvania grant to improve the intersection of Routes 73 and 663 near the Saldutti Car Corner. It will use the money to install a traffic control signal there, as well as widen the road to add a westbound lane on 73 (in the background) making it safer to turn onto Route 663, and to re-profile the hill at the intersection to increase sight distance. “The improvements will help increase efficiency in the operations of the intersection, and help prevent delays for commuters,” Mensch said. Toepel praised township residents and officials in raising their safety concerns and offering a “meaningful solution.”
