POTTSTOWN PA – Area military veterans and related organizations have begun their planning for this year’s Memorial Day (Monday, May 27, 2019) observances in the borough. To that end, members of Vietnam Veterans Pottstown Keystone Chapter 565 are scheduled to meet Feb. 5 (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. at the Red Horse Motoring Club, 123 E. Third St. to discuss preparing for a Memorial Day Parade and ceremony.
- This event has been added to The Post Publications calendar.
Members of the public interested in helping continue “this very American tradition” are welcome to attend, even if they are not chapter members, according to an e-mail announcing the meeting date. “As time goes on more help is needed to hold” these events, it noted, to ensure “those who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy the freedoms we have” are appropriately remembered.
The meeting will focus on plans for the parade, the accompanying ceremony, and flag placement. Motoring Club manager and 30-year Navy veteran Chuck Harders will serve as its host.
The chapter’s next regular members’ meeting is scheduled for March 5 (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. at the Sanatoga Ridge Community Center, 2461 E. High St.
