POTTSTOWN PA – Pottstown Hospital–Tower Health employees donated more than $20,000 to area charities during 2018, the hospital reported Friday (Jan. 12, 2019).
A portion of the donations, about $8,000, were made through “Casual For A Cause,” a weekly dress-down day led by the hospital’s Celebrate and Recognize Employees’ Work Committee. Established in 2013, the committee designates a charity each month. Then employees pay $3 weekly for a “Casual For A Cause” sticker that allows them wear jeans and hospital “spirit wear” on Fridays.
A check for the monthly contributed total is sent on behalf of the hospital employees to the designated charity.
Remaining contributions, valued at about $12,000, were raised by employees through hospital participation in the Tri-County Network Amazing Raise. It’s a giving challenge that highlights the work of area non-profit organizations and helps raise needed funds.
Organizations supported last year include the Pottstown Library, Tri-County Active Adult Center, Foundation for Pottstown Education, Amazing Raise, and Boyertown Multi-Service. Health-related organizations supported through “Casual for a Cause” include The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women, the Gift of Life, National Stroke Association, and The American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink.
