POTTSTOWN PA – Addressing the need for working smoke detectors in every residence is the aim of Safety Sunday, an event jointly sponsored by Higher Ground Church International, 1126 South St., and the Goodwill Fire Company on Sept. 16 (2018; Sunday) beginning at noon at the church. Families who attend can register to receive a free smoke detector for their homes.
Both Goodwill and the church are offering entertainment for the afternoon. Goodwill will drive apparatus to the scene, staffed by firefighters. Both the fire truck and volunteers will be available to talk and take photos with visiting children. Fire safety information will be distributed too.
The church is serving refreshments, and also has scheduled singing entertainment.
Their emphasis, though, is on the smoke detectors themselves and their importance in quickly alerting family members to a fire. Goodwill representatives will talk about that. The event is open to the public and free to attend. Parking is available.
