SANATOGA PA – The Meals On Wheels program, operated by Family Services of Montgomery County from its offices at 1976 E. High St. in Sanatoga village, needs volunteers to pack and deliver meals to home-bound elderly individuals in Pottstown, Royersford, and the Lower Perkiomen Valley, the agency said Monday (July 23, 2018).
Meals on Wheels provides two meals each weekday – a hot lunch, and a cold supper to refrigerate – to an average of 160 people. Most volunteers commit to packing or delivering meals once a week, while others volunteer on a substitute basis. Training is provided. “Volunteers who can serve on a substitute or as-needed basis are greatly appreciated,” it added.
Packing volunteers meet each weekday, and can choose from two shifts: 8:15–10:15 a.m., or 10:30 a.m.–noon. Meal delivery volunteers meet weekdays at 10:15 a.m.; their delivery routes take about 90 minutes to complete. Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance, and their own reliable vehicle.
Those interested in volunteering are asked to contact Case Manager Alicia Adams at 610-326-1610 Ext. 328, or by sending an e-mail to email@example.com.
