POTTSTOWN PA – Employees at Exelon’s Limerick Generating Station have delivered 182 coats to students of need (at top and below) in all four Pottstown School District elementary buildings, and its middle school. The distribution represents the sixth year the workers have participated in the “Operation Warm” program, the district reported.

The coats were particularly appreciated during the past week’s bone-chilling temperatures. “It’s a very rewarding experience to see smiles on the children’s faces when they receive their coats for the winter,” said volunteer Donna Christman. She’s worked with the Exelon effort, which attempts to meet the needs of Pottstown students who lack necessary winter apparel, for the past five years.

Students and school staff members alike are grateful. “A couple students commented that they received jackets last year, and demonstrated their appreciation to get a jacket that fits them” said Barth Elementary School Principal Ryan Oxenford. “I think it’s an incredible example of generosity for an organization to reach out to our community and offer to provide assistance in some basic needs.”
