No Picnic In Amity: Vandalism Destroys Tables

VANDALS HIT NEW AMITY PAVILION – Vandals arrived sometime between Friday evening and Sunday morning (Nov. 3-5, 2017) at Amity Township’s Lake Drive Park and Recreation Area, 520 Lake Dr., Douglassville, and chose to wreck tables (at top) beneath its new pavilion instead of picnic on them, the township Police Department reported. Officers said they arrived there to find “significant damage to several of the picnic tables and to an electrical outlet … boards on the table tops and benches were broken in half, and the cover to (the) outlet was ripped off.” The tables are part of a current service project being conducted by an unnamed township resident, an Eagle Scout, who was cleaning, fixing, and replacing some of them. Police hope someone can offer information on the offender(s) involved; call Det. Michael DiMaria at 610-689-6000, Ext. 235.
