POTTSTOWN PA – As the Pottstown-based YWCA Tri-County Area continues to observe its National Week Without Violence, the organization is scheduled for a visit from local 6th Congressional District Rep. Ryan Costello today (Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017) at 3 p.m. for an open house in its Early Education Center, 315 King St.
The Week Without Violence (Oct. 16-20) is a national YWCA movement raising awareness of the devastating effects of violence. The YWCA Tri-County Area works to bring communities together to combat violence and injustice.
Representatives of the Women’s Center of Montgomery County also are expected to offer information about gender-based violence prevention, support, and resources.
Children from the center have created T-shirt-shaped posters for the Clothesline Project, a national effort intended to raise awareness of violence against women. Also on display will be original artwork from area youth in grades 6-12. Artwork from a YW Youth Art Contest and the Clothesline Project also will be displayed Friday (Oct. 20) from 6-10 p.m. at the Persimmon Purse Bingo event in North Coventry.
