LOCAL WOMEN JOIN 3-DAY WALKERS – Area residents Angela Dykon of Pottstown and Sarah Geiger of Limerick are among hundreds of women who today (Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017) will complete a 60-mile, three-day fund-raising walk to support the fight against breast cancer, according to organizers of the 2017 Susan G. Komen Philadelphia 3-Day march. They and other participants trained and collected money for months in dedication to find a cure against the disease that affects one in eight women in the U.S. throughout their lifetimes, promoters said. Walkers started out Friday (Aug. 25) from Willow Grove Park Mall in Willow Grove PA, paced themselves across 60 miles of streets and sidewalks in the Greater Philadelphia area, and were due to arrive later today at The Navy Yard in the city. Since 2005, the Philadelphia 3-Day has raised more than $68.1 million for breast cancer research.
