POTTSTOWN PA – When an orthopedic bed goes missing in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, or a patient recliner gets temporarily lost somewhere on its floors, it’s likely that hospital Environmental Services employee Chrissy Schantz will be the one who finds either.
Schantz has been named the hospital’s employee of the month for September (2017), not only because she can locate what others occasionally can’t, but also because she’s willing to do so. Colleagues who nominated her for the honor consider that a pinnacle of customer service, they said.
Nominator Julie Rexroth, a PMMC registered nurse, called Schantz “a great team member.”
“Our unit was in need of beds,” Rexroth explained. “Chrissy went beyond her duty by locating one of our orthopedic beds on a different unit. She went to the room to assist in retrieving the bed for the operating room, which she has done a number of times. She has also helped locate our recliners. She has been a tremendous help for our unit. Her assistance helps us do our job. We want her to know she is appreciated.”
That same willing spirit is on display when Schantz interacts with patients, Rexroth added. “She always asks a patient, ‘Is there anything I can do for you?’ Many patients have commented on how nice she is.”
The hospital honor is given monthly to employees nominated for their commitment to patient care, their professionalism, and their contributions on the job.
