NORTH COVENTRY PA – An Aug. 17 (2017; Thursday) preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a 34-year-old Barto PA man arrested on drug-related charges, North Coventry Township Police reported. He also was wanted under an active bench warrant issued by a Montgomery County court, they added.
John Charles Albertson (at top) of Winward Drive, Barto, was charged Monday (Aug. 7) with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance. Following preliminary arraignment and his inability to post bail, Albertson was transferred to Chester County Prison.
Officers initially alleged Albertson was a suspect in an investigation of phony money. They were called to Boscov’s department store in Coventry Mall, at Routes 100 and 724, “for the report of a male passing counterfeit currency,” according to a post on the department website.
During their investigation they said they identified Albertson, and located and detained him. Police allege he was later found to possess “11 pills which he did not have a prescription for, as well as a baggie containing a white crystal-like powder which is reported to be crystal meth” (methamphetamine).
Their report did not indicate if their was any follow-up on, or charges issued as a result of, the counterfeit claim.
