Coventry Boscov’s, Car Damaged In Accident

NORTH COVENTRY PA – An elderly driver lost control of her car Sunday (July 30, 2017) shortly after noon, as she backed out of a parking space near the front of the Boscov’s Department Store at Coventry Mall on Schuylkill Road, and accidentally struck one of the store’s metal window frames and large pane of glass, according to a North Coventry Township Police report.

No injuries were reported at the scene, but the car was significantly damaged.

Police said Eleanor Carey, 88, of Linfield, had parked her 2010 Hyundai Elantra “in a parking stall on the south side of Boscov’s.” As she was attempting to leave, Carey lost control of her vehicle and it “began to spin clockwise.” The car “jumped the curb on the parking lot island,” traveled off it, continued to spin backwards across the roadway, and then “jumped the curb to the sidewalk in front of the store,” the report stated.

The vehicle came to a stop against the window frame. The mishap damaged its rear bumper, undercarriage, right front end, and front passenger door. Douglassville Auto Body towed it from the scene, police added.

In addition to police, first responders included the North Coventry Fire Company and Goodwill Ambulance.
