GILBERTSVILLE PA – More than 75 percent of volunteer firefighters who are members of the Gilbertsville Fire And Rescue Company, 1454 E. Philadelphia Ave., now hold national Firefighter I certifications, its leadership reports. That’s prompted the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioners Office to commend (at top) the company for its participation in the state Fire Service Certification Program.
This program recognizes fire departments and companies that continually encourage members to meet and exceed national standards. The Firefighter I certification required completion of a 188-hour course that prepares firefighters for a variety of threats and scenarios they may face while on the job.
“We want to thank all of our volunteers for their hard work and dedication to our department,” the company said last Tuesday (June 30, 2017) in proclaiming the news on its Facebook page.
