POTTSTOWN PA – Tables filled with illegal drugs, a variety of weapons, and plenty of cash were put on display this week by the Pottstown Police Department, as it notified the public Tuesday (April 11, 2017) of success it shared with the New Hanover Police Department in taking down a local narcotics ring.
The goods and guns were recovered in March after officers and detectives from the two departments served warrants at the Pottstown homes of Kevin Whitlatch, Queen Street; James Lindsay, High Street; Akija Johnson, Chestnut Street; and Shonda Moore, North Franklin Street, Pottstown police reported on their Facebook page. All four were arrested; the cases of two have been transferred to the county Court of Common Pleas, and two others were scheduled for preliminary hearings later this month, according to magisterial district justice docket sheets.
Police described the four as “drug traffickers” from whom they seized heroin, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, THC concentrates, and synthetic cannabinoid (also known as K-2). The street value of the drugs seized was more than $10,000, the Pottstown department said.
In addition to the drugs, also seized was more than $9,000 in cash, $15,000 in bank assets, four handguns, one shotgun, and one stun-gun.
