POTTSTOWN PA – This week’s heat is bringing out bad guys, the Pottstown Police Department warned Friday (July 8, 2016) on its Facebook page, as it urged borough residents to be cautious about cooling their homes.
The department recently took “a report from a resident in the numbered streets of forced entry to their home,” it said. “Entry by the suspect was made through a window which was partially open. The suspect was described as a black or Hispanic male with medium complexion, approximately 5’10,” 160-180 (pounds). He was described as wearing a blue baseball cap, jeans, boots and a gray sweatshirt.”
That slightly open window troubled police. Although the fresh air may be comforting, they asked residents to “take care and secure your home at night” and “ensure windows are secure and cars are locked.”
Pottstown’s warmer weather – it experienced a heat wave this week, with temperatures into the 90s on several days – means “that night time activity picks up. That night time activity includes criminal activity,” police noted.
“Call 911 if you notice anything in your neighborhood that is suspicious,” they urged.
