BIRDSBORO PA – “Boone’s Beerfest,” the signature fund-raiser of the Friends of the Daniel Boone Homestead – now in its second year – will feature products of up to 25 breweries when it opens May 9 (2015; Saturday) from 2-6 p.m. at the homestead grounds, 400 Daniel Boone Rd.
Live music will be provided by Hillbilly Shakespeare and Manatawny Creek Ramblers. Food will also be available for purchase. In the historic area, visitors can take a guided tour of the Boone House.
General admission tickets for only those age 21 or older cost $45, and $15 for designated drivers. IDs will be checked at the door. Both are available online, here, or in the homestead visitor center.
Beerfest proceeds provide educational programs and events to the community and its visitors, including Hands-On History Days, Charter Day, Independence Day, Heritage Day, and A Homestead Christmas. They also pay for upkeep of the site’s rental facilities for scout groups, youth groups, and families.
The homestead is the birthplace of the famed frontiersman Daniel Boone, born in 1734. The Boone House, constructed in three stages throughout the 18th Century, is a 10-room stone structure fully furnished to the period and situated on 579 acres of rolling countryside.
