POTTSTOWN PA – The second annual Soup Bowl Fund-Raiser to benefit ArtFusion 19464, at which patrons get to enjoy all the soup, bread, beverages and homemade desserts they can eat, returns Jan. 26 (2013; Saturday) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the non-profit community art center and school, 254 High St.
During the fund-raiser, which ArtFusion representative Julie Tonnessen said is back by popular demand, guests can choose their favorite soup or sample them all. In response to requests from last year’s event, a soup recipe book is available for purchase too.
As a thank-you gift, diners also will take home a handcrafted ceramic bowl, created by local volunteers. Each bowl was completed though the combined creativity of two people: one who created the ceramic bowl, and a second who decorated it with a one-of-a-kind glaze design.
Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased online, here, or at ArtFusion during business hours. Seating is limited, and buying tickets in advance is suggested. All proceeds benefit the ArtFusion school and gallery. The school offers day, evening and weekend classes to help students of all ages develop their creative skills. Its gallery hosts rotating shows featuring local artists, and sells handcrafted gift items.
The fund-raiser also marks the start, Tonnessen said, of a campaign to collect new and gently-used (not scratched or broken) eyeglasses for members of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 565 and the Second Brigade MC Chapter G – PA. Veterans report there is a great need for magnifiers and “cheater” eyeglasses in all strengths. Donated glasses will be given directly to veterans. The collection effort continues through Feb. 28.
