Guardsman With Pottstown Ties Earns Masters DegreePOTTSTOWN PA – An Army National Guardsman with Pottstown ties has graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle PA.

Lt. Col. Ian H. Ranberg earned a master’s degree in strategic studies. Ranberg’s wife Alicia is the daughter of John Stahl of East Valley Road.

Ranberg, who lives in Souderton, is a battalion commander assigned to the Headquarters Battalion, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard at Hershey. He has served in the military for 24 years. When not on active duty, Ranberg is an environmental chemist for the Southeast Regional Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

The college is the Army’s senior educational institution. Its 10-month curriculum is designed to prepare and train officers of all the U.S. military branches of service, foreign military officers, as well as senior civilian officials of  federal agencies, to serve in top-level command and staff positions with the U.S. Armed Forces worldwide.
