In South Coventry, Mother Nature Shows Her Nasty Side

TREE UPENDED BY STORM CRUSHES HOME – Thursday afternoon’s (Aug. 9, 2012) violent thunderstorm upended a huge, decades-old tree in the backyard of the Kelly Family home on Chestnut Lane in South Coventry PA, sending it crashing into the rear of the house (top). As these photos show – they were broadcast over the social media service Twitter by Philadelphia Fox TV 29 reporter Dave Kinchen – a substantial portion of the building was demolished, reportedly including the bedroom of the family’s 12-year-old daughter. Kinchen reported that straight line winds literally tore the tree out by its massive root system (below).
