BECHTELSVILLE PA – Monsoon type rains, the type that sent Noah scurrying off to build the ark, forced promoter Bruce Rogers to cancel the Saturday night (July 28, 2012) racing action at Grandview Speedway, 43 Passmore Rd.
With the first event of the night – a Late Model qualifying race – on the track, the dark clouds that carried the threat of rain let loose with enough water to turn the one-third-mile, banked clay track into a huge swimming pool. It sent more than 100 racers home very early.
The Hatfield Quality Meats sponsored triple-header, featuring the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars, will be re-scheduled for a later date.
Saturday night racing action will return Aug. 4 to Grandview Speedway, when WNPV-1440 AM Radio, the Lansdale PA area NASCAR station, sponsors a triple-header show that will include the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars. The leader of each lap in the Late Model feature race, a 20-lapper, will earn $14.40 courtesy of Joe and Linda Moskal of WNPV-AM radio. Adult admission will be $15; youngsters 12 and younger will be admitted free. Racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.
Coming up Aug. 11 is one of the biggest events of the season, when the NASCAR 358 Modifieds participate in the Forrest Rogers Memorial presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings. This will be a 50-lapper paying $20,000 to the winner, if the winner is a regular competitor at Grandview, or $10,000 to a visiting driver. The Late Models and Sportsman will also be part of the action.
The first 1,000 fans through the main gate will receive a free Forrest Rogers Memorial rally towel courtesy of Pioneer Pole Buildings.
