POTTSTOWN PA – South Hanover Street between River Road and High Street in Pottstown will be closed from Aug. 13-17 (2012) as the Norfolk Southern Railroad replaces a rail crossing there, according to the District 6 office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), based in King of Prussia.
During the replacement operation, Hanover Street through-traffic will be detoured over a posted route that as of Saturday (July 28) had not yet been announced. Logistically, the announcement could mean the Hanover Street bridge crossing the Schuylkill River could be closed or restricted, although that has not been confirmed by PennDOT.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
