POTTSTOWN PA – A recent Pottstown High School version of the Wing Bowl, in which competitors chow down on as many chicken wings as they can stomach within a set time, enabled students there to present St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital with a check for $396.  “It feels great to be able to help St. Jude’s, that does so much for kids that really need help,” said Sage Reinhart of the high school’s student government.

Sponsored by social studies teacher Mark Agnew, and students in the high school business class taught by David Todd, members of the student government teamed up to organize, advertise, and manage the Wing Bowl, which raised the funds for St. Jude’s and doubled as a student pep rally.

“Our students gained valuable, real-life business experience by organizing the event and seeking business advertisers and sponsors,” Todd said.  “However, the greater learning lesson for them was the value of helping those in need.”
