POTTSTOWN PA – Pottstown’s St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church is making up for lost time in a grand way.
Church pastor the Rev. Joseph Maloney says it’s been about 30 years since the parish has put on a community carnival. But since Tuesday (June 26, 2012), when the revived St. Al’s Carnival opened on the grounds of the former St. Pius X High School, 844 N. Keim St., members of its congregation have shown they still have the knack for staging fun events. Photos and compliments from patrons there have popped up across social media platforms.
The carnival continues Friday (June 29) from 6-10 p.m., and Saturday (June 30) from 3-10 p.m. It features what carnival committee member George Bell calls “a pleasing array of amusement rides” provided by Houghton Enterprises Inc., a Kiddie Corner of games and arts and crafts for young children, home-made food items (including some ethnic foods), and popular games and entertainment.
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
Proceeds from the carnival’s ticket and product sales will benefit both parish activities and its adjoining school.
