POTTSTOWN PA – Students at Pottstown’s Lincoln Elementary School, 461 N. York St., recently raised about $1,600 during a fund-raiser conducted on behalf of the American Heart Association, school district spokesman John Armato said Tuesday (March 20, 2012).

Students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade used hula hoops, jump ropes, and climbing ropes as their ways of fulfilling commitments to their contributors. Second grader Sidney Waterman and fourth grader John Heydt each raised $150.

Physical education instructor Jane Thompson said the kids literally put their hearts into it. “I am so excited that our students participated in healthy lifestyle activities, while at the same time helping to contribute to a very worthy cause,” she noted.
