Chef Donates Time, Talent To Pottstown Free Meal Site

POTTSTOWN PA – Homeless people who take advantage of a free weekly meal offered Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in the lower level of the Heart of God Family Worship Center, 201 N. Hanover St., Pottstown PA, could soon enjoy the dishes of a trained Philadelphia chef, Chosen 300 Ministries announced by e-mail Saturday.

Chef Lawrence Albury

Chosen 300, the Philadelphia-based religious organization that conducts the meal program at Heart of God, said personal and private parties’ chef Lawrence Albury had agreed to “donate his time to prepare the meal for the homeless in Pottstown.” A date for Albury’s cooking session for the dozens of people who arrive to be fed was not yet set.

Albury is a Philadelphia native and a 2003 associates’ degree graduate of The Restaurant School of Philadelphia. He also has studied cooking in Paris, and has worked in Morton’s Steakhouse, City Tavern, and Embassy Suites. Albury recently launched a business, I’m Your Chef, in which he serves as a personal chef for those who can not or prefer not to cook.

Chosen 300 is still looking for volunteers to help serve its Pottstown meals. For more information, call 215-765-9806.
