Make, Eat Colonial Chocolate At Pottsgrove Manor

Chocolate is served at Pottsgrove Manor

POTTSTOWN PA – “Chocolate in the Very Best Manner,” a Colonial cooking workshop during which participants have a hand in preparing and eating colonial chocolate dishes, will be held Feb. 11 (2012; Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pottsgrove Manor historic site, 100 W. King St., Pottstown PA.

Food historian Deborah Peterson, of Deborah Peterson’s Pantry, will teach how to prepare authentic chocolate “receipts” in Pottsgrove Manor’s reconstructed 18th-century kitchen. Participants will receive a booklet of all the recipes prepared during the workshop.

Pottsgrove Manor is home of John Potts, colonial ironmaster and founder of Pottstown. The museum and restored Colonial home is operated by the Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services Department.

The workshop is open to those age 12 and older at a fee of $50 per person. A printable registration form is available for download here. Spaces are limited, and registration and payment are required by Feb. 7. Workshop attendees should wear comfortable clothing and bring an apron and a sack lunch.

In case of inclement weather, the workshop will be held Feb. 18. For more information, or to register by phone, call the site at 610-326-4014.
