POTTSTOWN PA – Rather than hibernate for the winter, the “bears” who star in “Goldilocks And The Down Home Bears” are singing (above) and dancing this week in their performances at the Tri-County Performing Arts Center, 245 High St., Pottstown.

What spokeswoman Betsy Chapman describes as a “foot-stomping musical” will be held only this Saturday (Jan. 28, 2012) at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Sunday (Jan. 29) at 3 p.m. in the theater in the downtown shopping district. Tickets remained available as of late Wednesday, Chapman said.

Her comments on its storyline:

“Come down to the holler to meet Goldie (Goldilocks), who is just about to celebrate the birthday that will make her a teenager. And what does she do? She runs away from her home and her strict parents, only to find the country cottage of the most fun lovin’, partyin’ three bears you ever did see. (The show) celebrates family and friendships, and the joys and challenges of growing up for both kids and parents!”

The musical is intended as family entertainment, and Chapman said it’s particularly suited for children ages 5-12. The book and music was written by Neal and Karen Newman.  The cast includes Maddie Aicher, Joseph Ciresi, Rachel Julian, Lindsay Lohr, Deedee Mann, Allen Puy, AJ Sermarini, Jordan Shoemaker, Rebecca Shoemaker, Eric Thompson, and Paulina Wozniak.

Tickets cost $17 for adults; $15, students and seniors; and $13, children 12 and younger.  They can be purchased online or at the door if available. Discounts are offered for groups of 10 or more. For more information, call the theater at 610-970-1199.
