Happy students at Edgewood Elementary show off a check and their new school supplies
POTTSTOWN PA – Students at Edgewood Elementary School, 920 Morris St., Pottstown, now have supplies and equipment necessary to help them prepare for the future, thanks to the generosity of a local chiropractor and his patients, the Pottstown School District announced Wednesday (Nov. 30, 2011).
Dr. Niraj Patel of the Chiropractic and Wellness Center, 1143 E. High Street, Pottstown, recently conducted an annual school supply drive among his patients that donated much-needed notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, backpacks, folders, and other materials to Edgewood, district spokesman John Armato said.
Patel also contributed $300 to support student activities throughout the year. Edgewood Principal Calista Boyer said the cash contribution would be used to help pay for educational field trips.
“Many children in our community have no basic school supplies,” Patel noted. “I felt we could make a difference … through this program.” This represents the fifth consecutive year of the Chiropractic and Wellness Center’s school supply drives. It also conducts food drives for needy families, and is involved in support for members of the military.
